St. Paul's will be participating in the 5th annual PA OH Gives - Giving Week during the week of June 22-28, 2024. Last year, this virtual giving event held by the Community Foundation of Western PA and Eastern OH raised more than $1.2 million for 70 non-profits in the region. Of that, St. Paul's received more than $41,000 for benevolent care.

Any donations made during PA OH Gives for St. Paul's will be matched by the Community Foundation on a prorated basis, increasing the impact.

"PA OH Gives is a great way for our donors to time their giving to take advantage of the free matching funds. They get excited about it! They can't wait to hear what the match ends up being," said Hartman.

There is more than $125,000 in matching funds available. The match amount will be determined after the event ends by dividing the total matching funds available by the total amount of donations received for all participating non-profits. Each charity will receive the same match amount per dollar raised.

As in previous years, donations for St. Paul's during PA OH Gives will benefit the Good Samaritan Fund. This fund provides support for residents who exhaust their financial resources and can't afford to pay for the full cost of their care.

65% of the residents at St. Paul’s in skilled nursing care and 5% of those living in personal care depend on benevolent care.

"We make a promise to our residents that they will be able to receive the care and support they need for as long as they should need it, even if they run out of financial resources," said Dawn Hartman, Director of Strategic Giving. "That is our charitable mission, and it wouldn't be possible without donors supporting our Good Samaritan Fund."

The Community Foundation is not collecting any administrative fees during PA OH Gives, which means 100% of the donations will pass directly to St. Paul's, in addition to the amount the foundation matches.
